THC doesn’t often touch on non-local politics, because there are plenty of other swill merchants beside ourselves that you can turn to for that kind of stuff.
But THC’s nightly bender was recently interrupted by a couple from overseas, and after telling them where the nicest bars and restaurants in Eureka are (Wendy’s and the Shanty, obviously!), the conversation turned to the shameful state of our presidential race.
In short, this young couple was not only confused by how the hell we ended up with choosing between Hillary and the Donald, but also genuinely hurt by one thing: the fact that the U.S. has failed to live up to the expectation of setting an example to the rest of the world. And we had no comeback for them, really. (We also guess it can be argued that we’ve failed to set much of an example far before the current race to the White House, but that’s a debate for another time.)
So, THC did a little reflecting, and we wonder both to what extent the U.S. is obligated as a global citizen to set an example to the rest of the world and also how massive a failure having Clinton or Trump as our potential president is.
While the first question is open to some debate – and we do invite you to share your thoughts with us here on this hallowed pages – it seems pretty undeniable to THC that the circus we’ve created out of our presidential election is not just embarrassing to ourselves and the global community, but also a plainly massive failure to live up to the standards of leadership expected of us.
We frankly won’t bash or endorse either Trump or Hillary, because they both suck. We’ll leave you with these lovely photos to sum up our thoughts:
Actually, we changed our mind. We’ll leave you on a slightly more positive note with our endorsement for the candidate that we would whole-heartedly support:
